PARIS (AP) — Paris Saint-Germain refocused on its last shot at silverware this season in the French league and beat Brest 2-1 with a late Kylian Mbappe goal on Saturday.Mbappe beat the offside trap to collect a throughball from Lionel Messi in the 90th minute and rounded goalkeeper Marco Bizot to slot into an empty net.The France striker was lucky to still be on the pitch after kicking Haris Belkebla, who was on the ground in the 85th.“We’re not saying that we lost because of that, but I’d like to know whether all the players would get the same treatment if they did that,” Brest midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou said. “I asked the referee for an explanation. He said that it was tame. So, I’d like to see what’s a real kick.”Mbappe initially fouled Belkebla from behind. Belkebla fell to the ground and held onto Mbappe’s leg. In an act of petulance, Mbappe kicked Belkebla in the stomach. The referee showed only yellow cards to Mbappe and Belkebla for that incident.PSG was knocked out ...THE PLAYERS Championship Scores

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. McFadden was "convicted of crossing state lines with intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor under the age of 12, and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity," the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Colorado said in a release. McFadden was found guilty of the charges after two victims testified at his trial in November last year. The trial lasted five days before the jury made a decision on the case. GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Duke has spent weeks building consistency and cohesion on the offensive end. That has the 21st-ranked Blue Devils making extra passes, getting better looks and knocking down outside shots. It also has this freshman-laden bunch within a win of an Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament championship under first-year coach Jon Scheyer.Kyle Filipowski had 17 points and 11 rebounds, Jeremy Roach hit a huge 3-pointer at the 1:32 mark and Duke held off No. 14 Miami 85-78 in the ACC semifinals on Friday night.Roach’s 3 from the left wing over Isaiah Wong with the shot clock going down gave Duke a 78-71 lead that Miami couldn’t overcome in a well-played matchup that often resembled a second-weekend NCAA Tournament game.“I thought it was as high of a level of game as we’ve played,” Scheyer said. And the fourth-seeded Blue Devils (25-8) did enough late to stay in control, earning a meeting with No. 13 Virginia in Saturday’s final.Tyrese Proctor hit tw...Bill banning marriages under age 16 passes in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — A child marriage bill is heading to the West Virginia governor’s desk after lawmakers agreed to let 16- and 17-year-olds get married with restrictions. The House of Delegates passed the bill 83-9 without debate Saturday, a day after the Senate easily endorsed it after making changes to an earlier House version. Republican Gov. Jim Justice hasn’t publicly indicated whether he’ll sign it.Currently, children can marry as young as 16 in West Virginia with parental consent, and anyone younger than that regardless of age can get married with a judge’s waiver. The bill passed Saturday would remove the possibility that anyone younger than 16 could marry. Those ages 16 and 17 would have to obtain parental consent and they couldn’t marry someone more than four years older than them. Existing legal marriages, including those done in other states, would be unaffected. The bill was thought to be dead on Wednesday night when the Senate Judiciary Committee r...Belmont’s Ellie Shea has double the fun at New Balance Nationals

BOURNE — Coming off a penalty kill late in a 1–1 game, Canton captain AJ Thomas knew to gain some open space. He found a loose puck, gained body position, and fired the puck into the top corner to give his Bulldogs a lead over Duxbury in a Division 2 semifinal boys hockey game at Gallo Arena. He would add an empty netter to make it 3–1 a few minutes later and that would be all Canton would need to book its fourth trip to the TD Garden in the past five seasons.“I see (the puck) pop out into the middle of the ice,” Thomas said. “I raced for it, battled with the other kid and put it over his blocker side.”At one point in the contest, this result seemed unlikely. Neither team had surrendered a goal in the tournament up to this game, and the first period continued that streak. Towards the latter stages of the second period, Wick Ross buried a puck and put the Dragons in the lead. This felt like a dagger, and Dragons’ goalie Sam Mazanec continued to frustrate the Canton offense.
